Free Charlie Cards at the Everett Public Libraries

The Everett Public Libraries and the City of Everett are offering free MBTA Charlie Cards to citizens of Everett. They can be picked up at City Hall or the Parlin or Shute Memorial Libraries.

Why pick up a Charlie Card? During the orange line shutdown, they can be used for free trips in zones 1, 1a, and 2 on the commuter rail. Using a Charlie Card also means you’ll pay cheaper fares than you would with a Charlie Ticket.

NOTE: The free Charlie Cards do not have any monetary value. Users will need to load money on to them at an MBTA fare kiosk or online at mbta.com/fares/charliecard in order to ride the T or buses.

Massachusetts Primary Elections

With early voting underway and the primaries around the corner, election season is here once again. Our librarians have compiled a list of resources to aid you in making your decisions and in voting. For information from Everett’s Election Department and about each of the candidates running in the primaries, visit our Election 2022 page in our “Resources” section.

Summer Reading Coming to a Close

The summer is winding down, which means the Everett Public Libraries’ summer reading challenge, Oceans of Possibilities, is almost over! The challenge ends on August 29, and there is just one week left to log your reading minutes so you can reach the grand prize.

Remember, kids will get a pizza party at the library, teens will have a library lock-in, and adults will be entered to win two tickets to the New England Whale Tour.

Reading minutes can be logged via the the Beanstack app or on the Beanstack website.
