Computers
The Parlin and Shute Memorial libraries offer computers for public use. Patrons will need a library card in order to log on to a computer if they live within the state of Massachusetts. If a patron who does not live in Massachusetts wishes to use a computer, they can ask the circulation or information desk for a guest pass that is good for one day. Each session lasts for 60 minutes. If there are no other users waiting for an open computer, patrons may continue their use for longer than their allotted 60 minutes.
At each library, there are computers available upstairs for adult and young adult use and downstairs in the children’s rooms for children’s use.
Printing
Patrons are able to print using the available computers. Printing is $0.10 per page in black and white and $0.25 per page in color. We accept $1s, $5s, nickels, dimes, and quarters only. NOTE: we have change to break larger bills but will not break bills larger than $20.
Copying
Both libraries have copy machines available for public use. Copies are $0.10 per page, and we accept $1s, $5s, nickels, dimes, and quarters.
Faxing and Scanning
The libraries have printers with scanning capabilities in the adult departments of each branch. Scanning is free, but scanned documents can only be saved to a USB drive. Should you need one, you can ask a staff member.
We do not have a fax machine but are able to send faxes using the free website faxzero.com. FaxZero allows users to send 3 pages at once, up to 5 times per day, for a total of 15 pages. You will need scanned copies of your documents and an email address that you can log into in order to use this service.
Ask a reference librarian if you need any help!
