    Thanks to an American Rescue Plan Act grant administered through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Institute of Museum and Library Services
         we have subscribed to the following new databases:

  • Rosetta Stone— Improve your English or learn another language with Rosetta Stone Library Solution. This effective, easy-to-use program allows you to learn a new language on your own time.

  • O’Reilly— This database gives users on-demand access to a vast collection of titles (including O’Reilly books in early release), videos, case studies, learning paths, expert playlists, and more from O’Reilly and nearly 200 other publishers. Topics covered include team management, business strategy, critical thinking, and technical subjects such as data science, programming, security, and more.
  • LearningExpress— Whether you’re looking to find a new job in your current field or pursue a career in an exciting new industry, Job & Career Accelerator has the powerful tools and expert guidance to help you through every step of the process to succeed in today’s job market. Don’t wait. Get started now!
  • Udemy — This online learning platform is for adults who want to grow professionally or further develop a personal interest. Choose from more than 4,000 continuously updated, on-demand video courses in business, technology, design, and personal enrichment—and become who you’ve always wanted to be.

General Databases

  • Massachusetts Libraries — You can access many online resources including articles from magazines, journals and the Boston Globe as well as collections of historic images, and craft, story time and science videos from librarians from across the state. You won’t need to use your library card to get in unless you’re accessing this site from outside Massachusetts.
  • Explora — Friendly interface to a collection of articles from hundreds of magazines and journal, everything from specialized topics such as health and business, prescription & over-the-counter drugs, animals, government, history, science, literature and more. You’ll need your library card or user name to get into this one from home.
  • Infotrac by Gale Cengage Learning — A General Periodical database with full text articles and databases on specialized topics such as biography, health, business and more.
  • Encyclopedia Britannica Online – More than just an Encyclopedia – includes photos, images, timelines, quotations, an atlas, and Year in Review. Also a Dictionary and Thesaurus and a Spanish/English Dictionary.

Biography

  • Biography in Context – Search for people by name, occupation, nationality, ethnicity, birth/death dates and places, or gender. Features people in the news and provides a resource for biographical research.

Business Information

  • Business Search Premier — The industry’s most widely used business research database, Business Source Premier features full text and searchable cited references for top journals covering a variety of business disciplines.
  • General BusinessFile ASAP – Analyzes company performance and activity, industry events and trends; the latest in management, economics and politics. Access to a combination of broker research reports, trade publications, newspapers, journals and company directory listings with full text. 1980-present.

  • Culinary Arts – Major cooking and nutrition magazines – includes thousands of searchable recipes, restaurant reviews, and industry information.

  • Ancestry – includes census & voter lists; birth, marriage & Death certificates; military records as well as immigration & travel lists; city directories and more. This is the only one of our databases that must be accessed in the library.

    • Eye Discover — An interactive portal where you can read, listen, or watch a wide-array of titles covering topics such as geography, astronomy, animals, and history.
    • World Languages — Choose from a collection of books, ranging from educational to pure enjoyment. Select from 12 languages (with more to be added soon). This is a great way to practice learning a new language or to read and learn in your native language.
    • AV2 Non-FictionA fantastic way to learn about a variety of topics, incorporating both reading and fun, interactive ways to learn such as slideshows and videos.
    • AV2 FictionSelect a title and choose to either read the book at your own pace, or have it read to you.
