The best ways to support the Libraries are to use our collections and services, attending our events, and spreading the word. Here are some additional ways you can support us.
Books & Media Donations
We accept most books and media in good condition, with the exceptions of:
- Textbooks, study guides, and books on health and medicine that were published 3 or more years ago
- All magazines
While we appreciate all donations, we may or may not put them in our collection depending on our needs. They may be given to charitable organizations or to the public on our free books cart.
Adult Volunteers
The Everett Public Libraries accepts applications for adults that are interested in giving back to their community. By joining our team, you’ll have the opportunity to help people of all ages access valuable resources and programs.
Whether you’re dusting shelves or editing a webpage, your involvement will play a vital role in promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading. We welcome your dedication and invite you to apply today to become a valued member of our volunteer community.
Please note that priority will be given to applicants that are residents of Everett. Due to overwhelming demand, we will not be fulfilling court-appointed community service hours.
Please email your completed application and CORI/SORI form, as well as a copy of your Driver’s License or Government ID to parlininfo@noblenet.org or call 617-394-2300 with questions.

Gifts
Our Libraries accept direct tax-deductible financial donations toward our programs, equipment, furniture, and library materials. Donors are encouraged to contact the Library Director to find more information on donating.
Please note that not all gifts can be accepted. Gifts will be evaluated based on several criteria:
- Alignment with the Library’s mission statement and collection development policy
- Availability of space
- Costs associated with maintenance, processing, or storage of donated items
- Community significance
- Donor-imposed restrictions and/or limitations
- Potential enhancement to library spaces, collections, or services
Upon approval and acceptance of a gift, the Library will acknowledge receipt and acquisition to the donor using the provided contact details.
Gifts accepted by the Library Director become the exclusive property of the Everett Public Libraries and may be sold or discarded at the Libraries’ discretion.
The Libraries cannot appraise non-monetary gifts for market value. Donors are responsible for assigning a value and documenting it for tax purposes with the Internal Revenue Service. Receipts will describe the gift for these purposes.
