The Parlin and Shute Memorial Libraries each have a printer, scanner, and computers available for public use.
Printing and copying are $0.25 per page in color and $0.10 per page in black and white. Faxing is $0.10 per page and scanning is free. The library accepts cash payment only, which is preferred in $1s, $5s, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Please note that the library has change to break larger bills, but we are unable to break bills larger than $20.
Computers
The Parlin and Shute Memorial libraries offer computers for public use. Patrons are strongly encouraged to use their library cards to log on to library computers. If a patron does not have a library card and wishes to use a computer, they can ask the circulation or information desk for a guest pass that is good for one day. Each session lasts for 60 minutes. If there are no other users waiting for an open computer, patrons may continue their use for longer than their allotted 60 minutes.
At each library, there are computers available upstairs for adult and young adult use and downstairs in the children’s rooms for children’s use.
Printing & Copying
Patrons are able to print using the library’s computers. Please note that our printers do not work with patron cell phones and laptops at this time.
The printer and copier at each library are part of the same machine. In order to minimize backlogs and patron wait time, please limit jobs to 100 pages max at a time.
Patrons can choose between single sided and double sided printing, as well as single sided and double sided copying. Payment for printing is taken at the tall metal coin box next to the print release station at each library, and payment for copying must be given directly to library staff.
Faxing
The Parlin Memorial Library has a fax machine for public use that will send outgoing faxes only. Faxes are $0.10 per page and payment must be given directly to staff. Anyone wishing to send a fax must:
- Have their documents single-sided
- Fill out a library-provided cover sheet
- See library staff for assistance with the fax machine
Scanning
Scanning is available at the Parlin and Shute Memorial Libraries free of charge. Patrons are strongly encouraged to bring their own USB drives on which to save their scanned documents, as the scanners cannot send them via email.
The scanner has a document feeder for bulk scanning and a flatbed for irregularly shaped objects. Because the scanner is attached to the printer and copier, please keep scans to under 100 pages at a time in order to minimize backlogs and patron wait times.
